Santa Ynez Valley
American Viticultural AreaEstablished 1983
Santa Ynez Valley is a Santa Barbara County AVA established in 1983 under 27 CFR Part 9, following the east-west-trending Santa Ynez River watershed inland from the coast. The valley's transverse mountain ranges allow Pacific marine influence to penetrate further inland than in most of California. Syrah, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc appear prominently in TTB COLA filings from this appellation.
