Paso Robles is an inland California AVA established in 1983 under 27 CFR Part 9, located in San Luis Obispo County east of the Santa Lucia Range. The region is known for warm, dry summers and dramatic diurnal temperature swings. Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Rhône-variety wines make up the largest share of COLA filings from this appellation. In 2014, TTB approved eleven sub-AVAs within the broader designation.
