Chehalem Mountains is an Oregon sub-AVA of the Willamette Valley, established in 2010 under 27 CFR Part 9. The mountains form the northernmost boundary of the Yamhill County wine district, with diverse soil types including volcanic Jory, marine sedimentary Willakenzie, and loess-deposited Laurelwood soils. The variation in soils across the appellation is considered one of its defining characteristics.
