Snake River Valley
Location: Idaho / Oregon, United States
Legal name: Snake River Valley
Snake River Valley is the key AVA for Idaho wine and also extends into eastern Oregon. Its high-desert setting gives warm sunny days, cool nights, cold winters, and a relatively dry growing season, which can support aromatic whites and structured reds with bright acidity. For drinkers, it is a useful anchor for understanding inland Pacific Northwest wine outside the Willamette and Columbia Valley frames.
