Sarmassa is an MGA in the Barolo commune and a useful entry for drinkers learning label geography. It points to Nebbiolo from a named place, often described through red cherry, rose, spice, earth, and tannic structure. Like other MGAs, Sarmassa does not change Barolo's grape identity; it narrows the place of origin.

For Barolo and Barbaresco crus, the safest corpus treatment is to carry a regional MGA-level note rather than pretend each named vineyard has a separate public vintage record.
