Barbabecchi
Barbabecchi is a named Etna contrada, part of the place vocabulary that increasingly appears on Etna labels. In red wines it most often points toward Nerello Mascalese, sometimes with Nerello Cappuccio, while white wines connect naturally to Carricante. The important idea for drinkers is volcanic origin at a finer scale than Etna DOC alone, with altitude, lava soils, and exposure shaping the wine. This entry is editorial and geographic, not a list of recommended estates.

Recent Vintages
Recent Langhe Nebbiolo vintages have been increasingly shaped by heat, drought, and abrupt rain patterns. Public Barbaresco and producer harvest notes describe 2022 as hot and dry, while 2023 brought a cool, rainy spring with downy-mildew pressure followed by hot, humid summer conditions and complicated ripening choices. For Barolo and Barbaresco crus, the safest corpus treatment is to carry a regional MGA-level note rather than pretend each named vineyard has a separate public vintage record.
